The cold wave, which is increasing its impact across Turkey, pushed thermometers to record levels during the night hours. According to meteorological data, the lowest temperature in the country was recorded in Bolu. Especially after the snowfall, as the weather cleared, the frost's effect increased in the city, where the temperature at Abant Lake National Park dropped to minus 21.3 degrees, making Bolu the coldest province in Turkey.
The cold wave affecting the country caused record temperature drops during the night hours. According to data from the General Directorate of Meteorology, the lowest temperature measured at night in Turkey was recorded in Bolu. Especially the districts of Bolu ranked among the coldest points in the country.
"THE HEART OF NATURE" HAS SURRENDERED TO THE FROST
Bolu, which is one of the important centers of winter tourism and is referred to as "The Heart of Nature," was affected by severe frost after the snowfall and the clearing of the weather. In the city, where temperatures dropped below zero throughout the night, the freezing cold negatively impacted daily life.
The windows of vehicles were covered with ice, and long icicles formed on the roofs of buildings. The surface of lakes and ponds across the city completely froze.
THE COLDEST TOP 3 POINTS ARE FROM BOLU
According to data obtained from the Automatic Meteorological Observation Stations of the Meteorology, all of the top three coldest settlements in Turkey are located within the borders of Bolu.
Abant Lake National Park topped the list with minus 21.3 degrees.
The village of Samat, belonging to the Gerede district, was measured at minus 19.4 degrees, taking the second place.
The Dörtdivan district came in third with minus 18.3 degrees.
CITIZENS EXPERIENCED DIFFICULT MOMENTS
In Bolu, where the freezing cold continued to be felt until the morning hours, many citizens had difficulty starting their vehicles. Authorities warned to be cautious against frost and ice, especially during the night and morning hours.
