Ali Larijani, the Secretary of the Iranian National Security Council, claimed that they have received intelligence about a plot to plan an attack similar to September 11 and blame Iran for it, while stating that Iran is against terrorist acts and is not at war with the American people.
Iran's National Security Council Secretary Ali Larijani made a striking claim in a statement on the social media platform X. Larijani alleged that he received information about a plan aimed at staging an event similar to the September 11 attacks and attributing the responsibility to Iran.
"WE HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH THE AMERICAN PEOPLE"
In his post, Larijani emphasized that Iran is fundamentally against such terrorist acts and stated that the Tehran administration is not at war with the American people. The Iranian official expressed that the current tension exists between governments and military forces.
"WE ARE DEFENDING OURSELVES AGAINST ATTACKS"
The Iranian official also stated that his country is currently defending itself against attacks from the US and Israel. Larijani indicated that the Tehran administration will continue to respond to attacks, stating that they will act "strongly and decisively" to punish the aggressors.
The recent increase in tension between the US and Israel and Iran has brought about military activity in the region and mutual harsh statements. Experts assess that the statements between the parties may be part of an information war and psychological pressure strategy.
SEPTEMBER 11 ATTACKS
The September 11 attacks are events that took place in the US on September 11, 2001, and are considered one of the largest terrorist attacks in modern history. Nineteen individuals associated with the Al-Qaeda organization hijacked passenger planes and carried out coordinated attacks on significant targets in the US.
Two of the four hijacked passenger planes crashed into the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York. Following the impact, large fires broke out in the towers, and both buildings collapsed shortly thereafter. The third plane crashed into the Pentagon, the headquarters of the US Department of Defense, near Washington. The fourth plane crashed into a field in Pennsylvania after passengers attempted to resist the hijackers.
HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE LOST THEIR LIVES
As a result of the attacks, approximately 3,000 people lost their lives, thousands were injured, and a significant security and political rupture occurred in US history. Following the incident, the US initiated a "war on terror" policy, holding Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden responsible. During this process, a military operation was conducted in Afghanistan, and global security policies changed significantly.
IT AFFECTED THE WHOLE WORLD
The September 11 attacks are considered a turning point that not only affected the US but also had political, military, and security consequences impacting the entire world.
US-ISRAEL ATTACKS ON IRAN
While negotiations continued between the Tehran and Washington administrations, Israel and the US launched a military attack on Iran on February 28. Iran responded with attacks on targets it identified in several regional countries, including Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar, where US bases are located, in addition to Israel.
In the US-Israel attacks, Iranian leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, along with many high-ranking officials, was killed. According to Iranian officials, the death toll from the US-Israel attacks exceeded 1,348, and the number of injured surpassed 17,000.
