Investigation by the Competition Authority into 4 major companies.

The Competition Authority announced that it has launched an investigation into the possible anti-competitive practices of four major technology companies. Among the giant companies are Fakir, Teknosa, Vatan Computer, and MediaMarkt. The authority had also taken the same step regarding a company named Arzum in the same sector earlier in the morning.

The Competition Authority has launched an investigation against Fakir, which operates in the small household appliances sector, as well as Teknosa, Vatan Computer, and MediaMarkt. In a statement made by the Authority, the following expressions were included:



The preliminary investigation conducted regarding the allegation that Fakir Elektrikli Ev Aletleri Dış Ticaret AŞ (Fakir), which operates in the small household appliances sector, violated Article 4 of the Law No. 4054 on the Protection of Competition by determining the resale prices of its resellers and restricting online sales, has been concluded by the Competition Board (Board).



Based on the information and findings obtained during the preliminary investigation, at the Board's meeting on 20.02.2025;



It was determined whether Fakir violated Article 4 of the Law No. 4054 by intervening in the resale prices of its resellers and restricting online sales,



And whether the indirect exchange of information between Teknosa İç ve Dış Tic. AŞ (Teknosa), Vatan Bilgisayar San. ve Tic. AŞ (Vatan), and Media Markt Turkey Tic. Ltd. Şti. (Mediamarkt) through Fakir violated Article 4 of the Law No. 4054.



As a result, it was decided to open an investigation against Fakir, Teknosa, Vatan, and Mediamarkt in accordance with Article 41 of the Law No. 4054 with the decision number 25-07/177-M(2).



AN INVESTIGATION WAS ALSO LAUNCHED AGAINST ARZUM



In a statement made by the Competition Board in the morning hours, it was reported that an investigation had been initiated regarding Arzum Elektrikli Ev Aletleri Sanayi ve Ticaret AŞ, known in the market by the brand name Arzum.



According to the information on the Authority's website, the preliminary investigation conducted regarding the allegation that Arzum Elektrikli Ev Aletleri Sanayi ve Ticaret AŞ (Arzum), which operates in the small household appliances sector, violated Article 4 of the Law No. 4054 on the Protection of Competition by determining the resale prices of its resellers and restricting online sales has been concluded by the Competition Board (Board).



IT WILL BE EXAMINED WHETHER IT VIOLATED COMPETITION



As the findings obtained during the preliminary investigation were deemed sufficient, at the Board's meeting on 20.02.2025; it was decided to open an investigation against Arzum in accordance with Article 41 of the Law No. 4054 to determine whether Arzum violated Article 4 of the Law No. 4054 by intervening in the resale prices of its resellers and preventing active and passive sales by its distributors to the resellers it sells directly.
