The President of the Competition Authority, Birol Küle, drew attention to the price fluctuations in the red meat sector before the month of Ramadan. He stated that inspections could be expanded to include more parties. Küle expressed that investigations and penalties related to the agriculture and food sector would continue to increase. He also emphasized that manipulative price fluctuations that cannot be linked to costs and the behaviors that may cause them violate the Law on the Protection of Competition.

Küle provided evaluations regarding the institution's efforts in the red meat sector. He pointed out that the inspections in the red meat market have two dimensions, indicating that both the institution's experts conduct unannounced inspections at firms and that they continuously monitor and analyze prices.

President Küle stated that inspections and penalties related to the agriculture and food sector will continue to increase, saying, "We warn all parties about price fluctuations before the month of Ramadan; if necessary, we will expand our inspections to include more parties. Ensuring that our citizens procure food at reasonable prices is among our priorities."

Recalling that firms operating in the sector and some union presidents made statements regarding prices before Ramadan, Küle continued: "We observe that manipulative statements regarding red meat prices have been made through social media. We are closely monitoring all sector stakeholders. I want to warn all parties to refrain from behaviors that could lead to price increases through actions outside the supply-demand balance."

Competition Authority President Küle drew attention to the fact that manipulative price fluctuations that cannot be related to costs and behaviors that could cause them raise suspicions of violating the Law on the Protection of Competition, stating, "Our fines can reach very high amounts. Therefore, all stakeholders in the sector should set their prices based solely on their costs without being subjected to any other influences."
