Talip Güran, who stands out with his curly hair as the character Ömer in the film Hababam Sınıfı Dokuz Doğuruyor, is now living a completely different life.
HE MAKES AND SELLS CHAIRS After quitting acting, Talip Güran, known as Curly Ömer from Hababam Sınıfı, now makes and sells wooden chairs in Bodrum. It is almost impossible to recognize Hababam Sınıfı's Curly Ömer in his latest form, as he earns his living by painting and selling colorful wooden chairs. Güran, who manufactures wooden chairs and runs a restaurant in Bodrum, nostalgically remembers his old days.
Güran, who also opened a restaurant in the same area, makes chairs during the day and runs the restaurant at night. During the black-and-white broadcasting era, Güran appeared in almost every advertisement, and he made a lasting impression by portraying the character Curly Ömer in the first "Hababam Sınıfı Dokuz Doğuruyor" film without the trio of Kemal Sunal, Halit Akçatepe, and Tarık Akan.
Stating that he nostalgically remembers those days, Güran said in an interview years ago, "The atmosphere of those times was completely different. There were very beautiful environments and even better shoots back then. One would want to go back to those times, but we also need to live in the present. People feel sad as they remember what they have lost. People always recall the past. I think about what we have brought from the past to the present, what we have done. We acted in a beautiful classic film. People liked this film. We still receive reactions to it. People show interest, and this makes us happy. The place of Hababam Sınıfı is very different in this cinema industry. I moved to Bodrum in 1982. I have been living in Bodrum since that day. I started manufacturing wooden chairs in Bodrum in 2013. I made wooden chairs and tables. This year, we also opened a restaurant; we converted the old oil mill into a restaurant. We wanted to host people in this restaurant. Occasionally, I also play the music of Hababam Sınıfı, and it becomes very nice in the restaurant. We experience nostalgia together with the people who come here," he said.
