In the Sındırgı district of Balıkesir, the water level in the Çaygören Dam reached 98% capacity after recent rains, and the water released from the dam, which is under pressure, caused damage to the fields. The heavy downpour, which continued to affect the entire district, negatively impacted daily life. After the rainfall, the water level in the stream beds rose rapidly. Due to the increased flow, some trees were uprooted, and some bridge crossings were submerged.
MANY AGRICULTURAL LANDS WERE FLOODED
With the recent rains, it was learned that the water level in the Çaygören Dam reached 98%, approaching full capacity for the first time in approximately 18 years. To prevent flooding, controlled water discharge was carried out by the State Water Works teams, and many agricultural lands were flooded.
WARNING TO "STAY AWAY FROM STREAM BEDS"
The Sındırgı Municipality teams continued their work on the ground without interruption, cleaning and intervening in areas where flooding occurred. It was reported that transportation was not disrupted thanks to the efforts made. Authorities warned citizens, especially those near stream beds and water discharge lines, to stay away from these areas and to be cautious.
