A price increase of 2 lira and 40 kuruş for diesel fuel is expected starting from Tuesday in the fuel sector. With this increase reflected at the pump, the price of diesel per liter in Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir will exceed 60 lira.

A new price increase has emerged in the fuel market. Due to the rise in oil prices and fluctuations in the exchange rate, a price increase of 2 lira and 40 kuruş is expected to be applied to the price of diesel per liter starting from Tuesday.

WILL EXCEED 60 LIRAS

It is reported that this increase will directly reflect on pump prices. According to information shared by industry sources, it is predicted that after the increase, the price of diesel per liter will reach the following levels in three major cities:

- Istanbul: 60 lira and 29 kuruş

- Ankara: 61 lira and 42 kuruş

- Izmir: 61 lira and 70 kuruş

NO CHANGE IN GASOLINE

Experts state that uncertainties in global oil markets and fluctuations in the exchange rate continue to put pressure on fuel prices. It is indicated that no changes are anticipated in gasoline prices at this stage.

With this development, comments are being made that diesel prices will exceed the 60 TL band, and especially in the commercial vehicle user and transportation sectors, an increase in costs is expected.

HOW ARE FUEL PRICES CALCULATED?

Fuel prices are calculated by refineries based on the average prices of refined products in the Mediterranean market, which includes Turkey, and changes in the dollar exchange rate. As a result of this calculation, the prices applied by distribution companies may show slight variations due to competition and freedom among companies and cities.

EPGIS HAD DECIDED NOT TO ANNOUNCE PRICE CHANGES

After the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) filed a complaint against EPGIS, the only union that announces changes in prices, the union stated that it would not share fuel price changes with the public until the legal process is concluded.
