The toll is rising in the fake alcohol disaster in Istanbul. While 7 of those poisoned by fake alcohol have died in the hospital where they were treated in Ümraniye, Fatih, and Şişli, 8 others are still receiving treatment. DEATH TOLL RISES TO 7Murat Calp, Erdoğan Tarhan, and Bekir Baybars, who were poisoned by fake alcohol, had died despite all interventions. Today, Zekai Sevmezler, Orhan Akçamlı, and Hasan Günhan, along with one more person, could not be saved despite all efforts. It has been learned that Osman Şentürk, Umut Calp, Şaban Olcay Ülker, Sibel Lupu, Berat İşleyen, Natalya Minyanova, Erdal Çilek, and Hasan Günhan are being treated in the intensive care unit of the hospital. 12 SUSPECTS CAUGHTThe Istanbul Police Department's Smuggling Crimes Unit and the Beyoğlu Public Order Bureau teams have pursued the suspects who provided fake alcohol to the poisoned individuals. As a result of their efforts, operations were carried out at the addresses of 12 identified suspects and some entertainment venues. While the suspects were taken into custody, 410 liters of ethyl-methyl alcohol, 165 bottles of fake alcohol, and 6 substances used in the production of aniseed illegal alcohol were seized during the searches. CAUGHT IN THE ACTAs a result of the investigations conducted by the Beyoğlu Public Order Bureau teams, it was determined that the deceased and those still receiving treatment had obtained the fake alcohol from Şişli and Beyoğlu. In an operation targeting a business identified as engaging in the trade of fake alcohol in the Bozkurt neighborhood of Şişli, Ergün A. (46) and Emrah A. (27) were captured and taken into custody. In Beyoğlu, a suspect identified as Emre K. (30), who was found to be trading fake alcohol with his motorcycle, was caught in the act after placing an order for alcohol as a customer. ONE PERSON ARRESTEDAmong the suspects sent to the courthouse, Emre K. was arrested by the court on charges of "attempted murder." RAID ON ENTERTAINMENT VENUES FOR FAKE ALCOHOLInspections were carried out by the Beyoğlu Public Order Bureau teams on businesses selling alcohol. During the inspections, 33 bottles of fake alcohol without labels, totaling over 16 liters, were seized, and the operators M.Ç. and R.G. were taken into custody. It was revealed that the suspects sent to the courthouse had a total of 28 criminal records for various offenses.
