SMARTPHONES BANNED IN PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SCHOOLS

Education Minister Lotta Edholm announced at a press conference that smartphones are banned in primary and secondary schools across the country.

NEGATIVELY AFFECTING EXAM RESULTS

According to their scientific research, Edholm stated that students would feel better in classes without a mobile phone, and expressed that they made this decision because smartphones distract students and negatively affect exam results.

PHONES WILL BE COLLECTED AND KEPT UNDER LOCK

Edholm pointed out that students' phones will be collected and stored in a locked box before entering the classroom, and that teachers will place the phones in a location they deem appropriate and will not use them during the lesson. Edholm announced that the implementation of the smartphone ban in schools will begin on July 1, 2026.
