İsmail Tek, who stabbed and killed a stranger seven times while walking on the street in Ankara, appeared before the judge. In court, the defendant stated, "I have been in prison since childhood, and it is true that I have not been able to adapt to the outside world. If the deceased had been my enemy, I would have planned it, but I do not know him."
In front of the War of Independence Museum in Ulus, Ankara, a person named İsmail Tek (29) killed an unknown individual, Yetkin Güner (45), with 7 knife stabs at around 05:00 on May 24. After the incident, the suspect, who fled, was identified through security camera footage and was arrested.
"I HAD A DESIRE TO KILL SOMEONE INSIDE ME"
The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office prepared an indictment against İsmail Tek for the crime of "deliberate killing with monstrous feelings or by inflicting torture." In his statement in the indictment, the defendant said, "I was staying at a hotel before the incident. I do not know the victim. I constantly had a desire to kill someone inside me. I killed because of this desire."
"I AM LONGING FOR LIFE IN PRISON"
The trial held at the Ankara 1st Heavy Penal Court was attended by the detained defendant İsmail Tek and the lawyer of the Güner family. T.Ç, who was given the right to speak during the hearing, stated that he worked at the reception of the hotel where İsmail Tek was staying on the night of the incident, saying, "He came around 23:00 the night before the incident and said, 'I couldn't adapt to life outside, I am longing for life in prison. I couldn't keep up with the outside, I will do something to get back inside.' He then took out a knife from his pocket and showed it. After that, he left my side. Later, after committing the act, he came back and said, 'I did something, I ran away. I will surrender to the police.' Then he left my side."
"I COULDN'T ADAPT TO THE OUTSIDE"
After the witness statement, the defendant İsmail Tek said, "I am open with my elders; I have been in prison since childhood, it is true that I couldn't adapt to the outside. This psychology has always been on me. If the deceased had been my enemy, I would have planned it, but I do not know him. I stabbed him because he cursed at me. I had no feeling of killing inside me."
DECISION MADE TO CONTINUE THE DETENTION
After the defendant's statement, the presiding judge ruled to address the missing issues in the file and to continue the defendant's detention, and adjourned the hearing to June 11.
