THE FIRST DENIAL CAME FROM HIS LAWYERS

The first response to the controversial claim came from the Asrın Law Office, to which terrorist leader Öcalan's lawyers are affiliated. In the statement emphasizing "falsehood," the following expressions were included; "In these days we are going through, we are witnessing together that Abdullah Öcalan is trying to fulfill his historical role in the construction of an equal, free, and democratic common life. He is waging a relentless struggle for a dignified peace against those who feed on polarization and the unsolved Kurdish issue, despite the conditions of isolation.

Instead of showing the moral integrity of thinking about how to contribute to a democratic solution in such a historic and sensitive period, we see manipulative, false, and disrespectful approaches towards Öcalan that disregard the limits of decency and respect. We know that these low-level discussions and discourses conducted in TV or virtual media under the guise of understanding the process carry an ethical and mental problem and aim to undermine the efforts for peace and solution. Such approaches are directed not only at Öcalan himself but also at his capacity for resolution. For these reasons, we invite everyone to think and speak with a language of peace, and to put forth effort and thought to reach a positive attitude and a democratic ground."

A STATEMENT FROM THE DEM PARTY

In the press release published by the DEM Party, the marriage claims regarding terrorist leader Öcalan were denied with the following statements; "We reject the writings of those who, in terms of lies, slander, and distortion, pay homage to the mentality of Hitler and the tactics of Goebbels, who consider journalism as servitude, and who play the role of warriors on screens. We invite everyone involved to take the approach towards Mr. Öcalan, who is conducting the process with great sacrifice and determination, seriously.
