Responding to Bolu Mayor Tanju Özcan's comments about himself, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu also made a reference to CHP Chairman Özgür Özel between the lines. Kılıçdaroğlu stated that Özcan's statements put the party in a difficult position and implied that Özel could not maintain control within the party by saying, "No one is saying it, so I will say it."
Bolu Mayor Tanju Özcan's remarks "Are you God or a cult leader?" were responded by the 7th Chairman of the Republican People's Party (CHP), Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, with a strong statement on his social media account.

Kılıçdaroğlu, who said "Don't even come to my funeral if I die" to Özcan, also made a reference to CHP Chairman Özgür Özel. Kılıçdaroğlu, who made a comparison of "loose mine" for Özcan, said "You are putting the party in difficulty with these statements. No one is saying it, let me say it; get your act together" and expressed that Özgür Özel cannot control the party internally. Criticism is like bread and water for our party, it has a place above my head. But disrespect, impudence, and shamelessness are not allowed by me or the Republican People's Party... RESPONSE FROM TANJU ÖZCAN
After Kılıçdaroğlu's post, Tanju Özcan, who was the focus of attention, also made a statement in response. Özcan also included the following lines in response to Kılıçdaroğlu: "Mr. Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu. I do not have a special hatred or animosity towards you. I have anger because you have darkened our future and our children's future for 13 years as a failure, for the sake of your love for the seat.
