A 28-year-old advertising employee, Nail Baran, was severely injured after being assaulted by his boss in a park in Istanbul. A disability report indicating 32% disability was issued for Baran, while the attacker faces a prison sentence of 9 to 15 years for attempted murder.

The employee who was severely beaten by his boss for drinking alcohol in a park in Istanbul was left with a 32% physical disability. A lawsuit was filed against the perpetrator, who was captured on camera, for "attempted murder" with a request for a prison sentence of 9 to 15 years.

HE BEAT HIS EMPLOYEE TO NEAR DEATH WITH A STICK

The incident occurred on the evening of June 3 in a park in the Sultangazi district of Istanbul. According to allegations, 28-year-old advertising company employee Nail Baran was drinking alcohol in the park next to the guesthouse where he was staying for work in Istanbul. Burak A. (40), who was aware of his employee's situation, approached Baran and expressed his discontent. The argument between the two quickly escalated into a fight. Burak A. began to beat Baran with a stick he had with him. Together with others, Burak A. continued to beat Baran until he became motionless and then left the park. Severely injured Baran was kept under observation in the intensive care unit of the hospital for two days.

HE WAS LEFT WITH A 32% PHYSICAL DISABILITY

Baran, who received 55 stitches to his head, was discharged after a 5-day treatment in the hospital and returned to Ankara. A report was issued stating that Baran had a 32% physical disability, while a lawsuit was filed against the attacking boss for "attempted murder" with a request for a prison sentence of 9 to 15 years. Baran expressed that his mental and physical health had deteriorated and that his life had been turned upside down, while his lawyer Rabia Ercan Şengül stated that the perpetrator's statement was taken months after the incident and that they were able to file a lawsuit as a result of their intense efforts. Burak A., whose statement was taken as part of the ongoing investigation, denied the accusations. The suspect, who is subject to a travel ban, was released, and the next hearing was postponed to February 2025.

"I AM TAKING MEDICATION DUE TO TRAUMAS"

Speaking about the incident he experienced, Nail Baran said, "I went to Istanbul for work. After we completed our work, we came to the hotel where we would stay. I was drinking alcohol in the park across from the hotel when my boss called me from behind. He told me that I shouldn't be drinking alcohol here. I told him that he couldn't interfere with me. A scuffle broke out between us. I wanted to get away from there. Later, I learned that he hit me with a stick from behind. I lost consciousness. After I fell to the ground, they continued to beat me. I don't remember anything. Due to the blows I received, I had a fracture in my skull and suffered a brain hemorrhage. I opened my eyes two days later. I went through difficult times. I couldn't walk, and I was relying on my brother for my needs. They stitched my head with 55 stitches. I have fractures in my jaw and face. I am experiencing vision loss. Right now, I am 32% disabled, and this number will increase. My mental health has also deteriorated. I am receiving psychological treatment. I am taking medication due to traumas. I am experiencing memory loss," he said.

"I COULDN'T EVEN REMEMBER MY MOTHER'S NAME"

Baran, who stated that there were also deteriorations in his mental health, said, "I couldn't even remember my mother's name. I have difficulties in my daily life. I can't work. I was thinking about getting married to my girlfriend. After these incidents, she also became hesitant about marriage. My life has been turned upside down. We are waiting for the judicial process. We are following the case. We are waiting to see what the outcome will be," he expressed.

"WE THINK THERE HAS BEEN INTERFERENCE IN THE FILE"

Lawyer Rabia Ercan Şengül claimed that the opposing side used their connections in the judiciary to interfere with the case file, stating, "My client started to live with a 32% physical disability after the incident. He stayed in intensive care for days after the incident, but despite all the investigations, the perpetrator's statement was taken three months later. The prosecution did not pursue the case. The perpetrator was not even taken into custody. An indictment was prepared. The trial for 'attempted murder' is ongoing, with a potential sentence of 9 to 15 years. Our hearing will take place in February 2025. We learned that the perpetrator's acquaintances and family members are members of the judiciary. For this reason, we think there has been interference in the case file, but we do not have any evidence regarding this. We requested the person's arrest, but the court rejected this. The court deemed the travel ban and judicial control decision sufficient," she said.

"THEY CARRIED HIM LIKE A TRASH BAG"

Şengül, who stated that they would follow the investigation, said, "We are following the case. The suspect left the scene thinking he had killed my client. The perpetrator and his companions carried my client like a trash bag. One person is being tried, but the perpetrator was not alone; there were at least three others with him. However, the court only heard these individuals as witnesses. In fact, a temporary decision was made to listen to the witnesses before the hearing," she said.
