The cholera outbreak in Sudan continues to spread and claim lives. The number of people who have died due to the deadly disease in the country has risen to 979.

The number of fatalities due to the cholera outbreak spreading in Sudan has risen to 979. In a statement from the Ministry of Health, it was reported that the total number of cholera cases in the country has reached 34,108.

The rains and floods that began in June in Sudan led to the spread of cholera. Sudanese officials declared cholera a pandemic on August 12.

The United Nations (UN) Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs reported on October 1 that 3.4 million Sudanese children are at risk of epidemic diseases. The UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) announced on October 5 that it had sent 1.4 million doses of cholera vaccine to Sudan.

In Sudan, where the war continues on one hand, the spread of epidemic diseases is making life even more difficult for people during this period when the health system is not functioning effectively.
