Famous actor Burak Haktanır made striking statements about manager Ayşe Barım and the monopolization in the industry. Haktanır stated that the art community operates in an organized manner and that some individuals receive instructions from certain people.
The investigation initiated against Ayşe Barım, the manager and owner of ID Consultancy Limited Company, continues while many actors are complaining about the monopolization in the industry. Burak Haktanır also stated regarding the issue, "Many actors in front of the public shared the text given to them on their social media, complaining about the country to foreign countries. If you are not leftist, your path in the industry will be blocked in this country."
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has accepted the allegations in the posts and news on social media regarding Ayşe Barım, who manages some artists and actors, as a report and the investigation initiated ex officio to uncover the material truth is ongoing. Actor Burak Haktanır, like many famous actors, shared what he knows about Ayşe Barım and monopolization. Speaking to Sabah, Burak Haktanır said:
"The recognition, power, and economic strength gained with the monopolization in the industry are used for state enmity and ugly purposes. These actors are sent to the field as mere apparatus. If you look at where the cultural and artistic community stands on issues concerning the security of the state, you will see this organization and monopolization. The cultural and artistic community has a problem with the religious people that I do not understand. This fight cannot continue like this. The cultural and artistic community must resolve its problem with the religious people. They should give up this mockery, belittling, and ridiculing."
Burak Haktanır mentioned that some actors supported Şebnem Korur Fincancı, the President of the Turkish Medical Association, who claimed that the Turkish Armed Forces used 'Chemical Weapons' at the Boğaziçi Film Festival two years ago.
THEY APPLAUDED THOSE WHO SLANDERED THE TSK
Emphasizing that there were other actors in the hall, Haktanır described the events with the following words:
"The Armed Forces are our pride, they fight for us at the cost of their lives. The only thing we can give them is morale and motivation. The only thing they expect from us is support. Otherwise, they already have the strongest equipment, they enter every kind of operation without hesitation, both inside and outside the borders. Such a vile slander bothers them. I opposed this.
On the day I reacted to those who slandered the TSK, I was not the only actor in that hall. Ayşe Barım's actors were also in the hall. They applauded those who slandered the TSK."
"YOU ARE SILENT"
Stating that the art community remained silent about the genocide happening in Gaza, Haktanır said, "Artists in many parts of the world raised their voices. But artists in our country have failed. I say this with sadness. You know how to raise your voice on many issues; people expect you to raise your voice against the genocide in Palestine as well. When it comes to an issue related to the TSK, while talking about peace, people expect a few things from you regarding that as well. But you are silent," he said.
"THEY ARE ACTING ORGANIZED"
The famous actor also stated, "When you look at the sentences coming out of the mouths in the art community and the way they react, it is clear that this is organized and instructed. We saw the biggest example of this in the forest fires. Turkey experienced the largest forest fire that history could witness. It is evident that the fires were started in an organized manner. The fires in our country saddened all of us, but this should not turn into an organized accusation against our state. Many actors shared the text given to them on their social media, trying to complain about the country they live in, trying to portray it as inadequate. You are an artist of this country; how can you do such a thing, how can you swallow this, how can you sign such a disgrace? They share a standard text given to them. They were given a text, and all of them shared those texts. If you have a complaint, you should express it in your own words and feelings. They also reveal the organization and instructions involved in this matter," he expressed.
THESE WERE KNOWN FACTS
Pointing out the events happening in the industry, Haktanır continued his words:
"The issue of Ayşe Barım and managers started to be discussed with the investigation initiated by the Competition Authority. But these were already known facts. It became a declaration of the obvious from the perspective of the industry. What happened was accepted with helplessness in the art community. I had expressed this years ago. Actors who received support from this process are now making statements to say what happened to them. If one remains dependent on Ayşe Barım, they will be inadequate. There are managers that she has raised and placed in the system. We also hear about the foreign aspect of the job. It is said that funding comes from there. First to Ayşe Barım, and then to the managers she has raised and placed in the system."
"NETFLIX FORCED TO ADD A SCENE"
I have two examples that I know closely. They take two scripts to Netflix. The script is liked, but they insist, 'Put an LGBT scene.' The screenwriter says, 'The story is not suitable for that.' But the platform insists, 'Do whatever it takes, you must include an LGBT character and scene.' Of course, when it doesn't happen, the script is good, the platform comes again. 'If it can't be LGBT, then put a sexually explicit scene,' they say. Our screenwriter friend says, 'You read the story, where are we going to put this, it will be absurd in an artistic sense, it won't hold.' This time they say, 'Then put a revealing woman.'
