Famous singer Berdan Mardini drew attention with his investment in his village in Mardin. He stated that with the facility he established, he aims to both engage in production and reduce migration from the village to the city.
“I PUT EVERYTHING I HAVE INTO THIS”
Mardini stated that he started the project in 2016, saying, “I put everything I have into this. I gave away my houses and my cars.” The artist, who expressed that he invested 10 million dollars in his village of approximately 78 households, also mentioned that he received reactions from his surroundings such as “Are you crazy?”
PRODUCTION FROM ROSE OIL TO PERFUME
Mardini said that products such as rose oil, rose perfume, macarons, and rose lemonade are produced at the established facility, emphasizing that the project is the result of years of effort.
FEMALE EMPLOYMENT IS A PRIORITY
Drawing attention to the social dimension of the investment, Mardini stated that he aims to reduce migration from the village to the city, adding, “I want people to be happy on their own land. My priority is to increase female employment.”
WILL PROVIDE EMPLOYMENT FOR 450 PEOPLE
Mardini announced that the project will provide employment for 450 to 500 people in the region, noting that ‘rosa damascena’ roses, which are being cultivated again in Mesopotamia, will be used in production.
