After 125 years of service in Berlin, Mälzer Patisseries has decided to close down. Unable to withstand economic pressures, Mälzer ceased operations at the end of September. IT WAS A MUST-HAVE FOR GERMANSThe patisserie chain, which became a favorite among Germans with its 5 branches in Steglitz, Wilmersdorf, and Schöneberg, went bankrupt due to rising costs. LEFT A THANK YOU NOTE TO ITS CUSTOMERSAlthough the patisserie requested a concordat during the summer months, the efforts were unsuccessful, and it decided to close down. The company left a note on the door of its last branch in Steglitz, thanking the customers who have preferred them for years. The firm, whose roots trace back to the "First Rhineland Bakery" established in 1899, had become one of Berlin's iconic establishments.
