The global economic crisis has recently led many companies to declare bankruptcy, and the latest addition to this trend is the bakery giant Mälzer, which has been operating in Germany for 125 years. As September came to an end, the bakery chain could no longer withstand the economic pressures and left a note on the door of its last branch, thanking the customers who had chosen them.

After 125 years of service in Berlin, Mälzer Patisseries has decided to close down. Unable to withstand economic pressures, Mälzer ceased operations at the end of September.

IT WAS A MUST-HAVE FOR GERMANS

LEFT A THANK YOU NOTE TO ITS CUSTOMERS

Although the patisserie requested a concordat during the summer months, the efforts were unsuccessful, and it decided to close down. The company left a note on the door of its last branch in Steglitz, thanking the customers who have preferred them for years.

The firm, whose roots trace back to the "First Rhineland Bakery" established in 1899, had become one of Berlin's iconic establishments.
