The fate of the 25 kilograms of gold and 50 kilograms of silver stolen by Erdal Timurtaş from the Büyükçekmece Courthouse's custody office has been revealed. It has been determined that a portion of the gold and silver was melted down and converted into cash, and an attempt was made to launder this money by establishing a car dealership. It was found that the theft was organized and planned, and it was determined that M.S., who is alleged to be the gang leader, disappeared after the incident.
New details have emerged in the investigation regarding the claim that 25 kilograms of gold and 50 kilograms of silver were stolen from the custody office of the Büyükçekmece Courthouse in Istanbul. It has been determined that a portion of the stolen gold was melted down at jewelers and converted into cash, and an attempt was made to "launder" the money by establishing a car dealership. The number of detainees in the investigation has risen to 16.
SIMULTANEOUS OPERATION AT 50 ADDRESSES
According to the information reflected in the investigation file, it was determined that the theft was planned in an organized manner. A simultaneous operation was carried out at 50 addresses targeting the suspects, and the file has expanded with the detention and arrest processes.
GOLD WAS MELTED, A CAR DEALERSHIP WAS ESTABLISHED WITH THE MONEY
Investigations revealed that a portion of the stolen gold and silver was melted down and converted into cash, and the money was attempted to be laundered through the car dealership. All vehicles within the dealership were seized, and it was learned that the assets of all suspects in the investigation were also frozen.
A GANG EMERGED FROM THE THEFT
The theft, which initially appeared to be carried out by a single person, was actually revealed to be planned by an organized structure. It was determined that M.S., who is alleged to be the leader of the suspects, was waiting in a vehicle during the robbery. It was learned that M.S. was on the run with his cousin M.E.
"I CAN BENEFIT FROM EFFECTIVE REMORSE" MESSAGE
According to the investigation documents, it was claimed that Erdal Timurtaş, an officer at the judicial custody office, sent a message to a friend expressing his desire to benefit from effective remorse. In Timurtaş's message, it was alleged that he stated, "I have no crime, they used me. They didn't even give me money. They threatened my family. I can benefit from effective remorse."
THE INVESTIGATION IS DEEPENING
It was reported that the investigation related to the incident is being conducted in a multifaceted manner, and examinations regarding the suspects' connections and money traffic are ongoing.
WHAT HAPPENED?
During inspections conducted after Erdal Timurtaş, a service officer at the Büyükçekmece Courthouse, had not come to work for a long time, it was determined that 25 kilograms of gold and 50 kilograms of silver were stolen. After the prosecutor's office identified the situation, it was revealed that Erdal Timurtaş and his wife Esma Timurtaş flew to England from Sabiha Gökçen Airport with their children on November 19.
A red notice was issued for the arrest of Erdal Timurtaş and his wife. In the investigation, Kemal D., who was identified as the judicial custody officer with the key to the room, was arrested in the first operation. In the second operation related to the incident, suspects Ömer K., Zeynep V., Eyüp İ.S., Gülsüm V., and Yunus E.K. were arrested and sent to prison.
Meanwhile, judicial control measures in the form of house arrest were applied to suspects Burak Ç., Mehmet T., and Mehtap S., while the other 5 suspects were released under the condition of a travel ban.
