In Bursa, moments when textile worker S.Y. and his son M.Y. assaulted paramedic driver Muhammed Ali Karasulu over a right-of-way issue after blocking the ambulance carrying a patient who suffered a heart attack were captured by the ambulance's in-car camera. Following the shocking footage, it was learned that M.Y. was arrested as part of the investigation initiated by the Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. ASSAULT CAPTURED ON AMBULANCE CAMERAIn the footage, S.Y., who stopped his car in front of the ambulance on the emergency lane, was seen getting out with his son M.Y. and his other son S.Y. (23), while the father and his eldest son S.Y. opened their mobile phone cameras and approached the ambulance. The father and his sons, checking whether there was a patient in the ambulance, recorded those moments with their mobile phone camera, while it was claimed that father S.Y. squeezed the throat of driver Karasulu as he moved to the driver's side of the ambulance. THREW PUNCHES ONE AFTER ANOTHERAgain in the footage, moments when M.Y. walked towards a female health worker who reacted to the events and repeatedly punched Muhammed Ali Karasulu, who tried to stop him, were also captured. The footage also included moments when the father and his sons, who argued with the health workers for a while, got into their cars and drove away. CELLPHONE FOOTAGE ALSO EMERGEDMeanwhile, footage emerged showing S.Y. and his sons filming the ambulance traveling on the emergency lane with their cell phones while inside their car. It was seen that S.Y., while blocking the ambulance with his car, approached driver Karasulu, who said, "There is a patient, you are cutting in front of me," to which S.Y. responded by cursing at the ambulance driver, saying, "I’m reporting you to the Provincial Health Director now." ARGUED WHILE IN MOTIONIn the footage reflected in the ambulance's cabin camera, it was seen that the driver argued for a while with the suspects who were driving alongside him, and then the suspects who blocked the ambulance with their car pushed Karasulu towards the driver's side door. It was also observed that after the incident, Karasulu continued on his way to the hospital with the female health worker next to him, despite being injured. REFERRED TO THE COURTAfter the assault, father S.Y. and son M.Y. were referred to the courthouse after completing their procedures at the police station. In M.Y.'s statement to the prosecutor, he said, "After we saw the ambulance with flashing lights coming, my father gave way after 3-4 cars passed so that the ambulance would not lose speed. Then, since we were in the far right lane, we continued on our way behind the ambulance. At that moment, the ambulance suddenly braked hard. As we switched to the left lane, a person named Muhammed Ali Karasulu opened his window from the driver's seat, looked at our vehicle, cursed, and said, 'Why are you following me from behind, are you a man? Pull the car to the right, I will call the police,' and made hand gestures. We then pulled our vehicle to the right ahead, the ambulance driver also stopped his vehicle, and then we got out of our vehicle. My father recorded a video with his phone, saying, 'I will send you to the Health Directorate.' The ambulance driver came out of his vehicle, cursing at us. While the ambulance driver was walking towards my father, I intervened, and in the process, he stepped on my previously cracked foot, which hurt a lot. I pushed and punched the ambulance driver in self-defense," he said. "I PUSHED HIM TO PREVENT HIM FROM HURTING MY SON, I DID NOT SQUEEZE HIS THROAT"M.Y., who claimed that his thumb was broken during the scuffle, stated that he was complaining about the ambulance driver, while father S.Y. claimed in his statement that the incident occurred due to the ambulance driver's cursing and insults, and said: "The ambulance driver called my son M. to the front of the ambulance, saying, 'Come here, look, there is a camera, smile for the camera.' At that moment, the ambulance driver stepped on my son's previously cracked foot. My son, in self-defense, reflexively pushed the ambulance driver. After that, when I heard from the nurse that there was a patient in the car, I said, 'Everyone get in their vehicle, there is a patient in the car.' This incident was only a discussion due to insults and curses directed at us. I only pushed him by holding his collar to prevent him from harming my son further and to calm him down, saying, 'Brother, what are you doing?' I definitely did not squeeze his throat." ARRESTEDIt was learned that suspect M.Y. was arrested as part of the investigation initiated by the Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the assault on the health team in the ambulance after blocking the ambulance on its way to Bursa City Hospital.
