The foot-and-mouth disease, which has started to become a major problem in Turkey, continues to spread. Following the identification of foot-and-mouth disease in a cattle farm in the Milas district of Muğla, a quarantine has been initiated in 11 neighborhoods. The Kemikler neighborhood has been declared a "protection zone," and the entry and exit of cattle and sheep will not be allowed in the quarantined neighborhoods for 30 days. Meanwhile, thousands of animals in the region have been vaccinated against foot-and-mouth disease.
The foot-and-mouth disease, which has recently become a major problem in Turkey, continues to spread. Quarantine has been initiated in 11 neighborhoods in the Milas district of Muğla due to the foot-and-mouth disease.
DETECTED IN A CATTLE OPERATION
In a statement from the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, it was reported that a study was initiated after the detection of foot-and-mouth disease in a cattle operation operating in the district.
QUARANTINE WILL BE APPLIED IN THESE NEIGHBORHOODS
Kemikler Neighborhood has been designated as a "protection zone," while movement restrictions have been implemented in the neighborhoods of Ağaclihoyuk, Akyol, Koru, Gökçeler, Ekinnanbarı, Yaka, Güllük, Kıyıkışlacık, Boğaziçi, Dörttepe, and Meşelik. In this context, quarantine will be applied in the neighborhoods. It was noted that during the 30-day quarantine period, the entry and exit of cattle and sheep into and out of the neighborhoods will not be allowed.
THOUSANDS OF ANIMALS VACCINATED AGAINST FOOT-AND-MOUTH DISEASE
The statement emphasized that a total of 12,763 animals have been vaccinated against foot-and-mouth disease in the region, and that breeders have been informed about disinfection practices, preventive measures against the spread of the disease, and the importance of vaccination activities, while all field studies in Milas and its surroundings are closely monitored by technical personnel.
