Approximately 18 million students and 1.2 million teachers affiliated with the Ministry of National Education resumed classes after the second mid-term break. As students returned to their schools, the dates for the LGS and YKS were also announced.

Approximately 18 million students and 1.2 million teachers in primary and secondary education institutions affiliated with the Ministry of National Education (MEB) resumed classes after the second mid-term break of this academic year. According to MEB's calendar, the second term mid-term break was held from March 16 to 20.

18 MILLION STUDENTS RETURNED TO CLASS

Teachers conducted their professional development programs online without going to school during the mid-term break. After the second mid-term break, approximately 18 million students and 1.2 million teachers across the country returned to class.

Students at Nasreddin Hoca Middle School in the Yenimahalle district of Ankara also arrived at their school in the morning. After the National Anthem was recited in the yard, the students proceeded to their classrooms. Teachers also conducted their first lesson after the mid-term break. Mehmet Akif Bican, a 5th-grade student, stated that he read a lot of books and spent time with his family during the mid-term break. Bican, who mentioned that he visited his elders for the Ramadan holiday, said, "I collected pocket money from them. I especially rested a lot and studied."

6th-grade student Sena Kalem also reported that she was studying for her upcoming exams after the mid-term break. Kalem, who also noted that she had the opportunity to rest during the mid-term break, said, "I visited my elders for the holiday, exchanged greetings. I kissed their hands and collected sweets."

LGS ON JUNE 14, YKS ON JUNE 20-21

The central exam within the scope of the Transition to High School System (LGS) will be held on June 14 for students in the 8th grades of official and private middle schools, as well as imam hatip middle schools, to select students for science high schools, social sciences high schools, Anadolu imam hatip high schools, project schools, and vocational and technical Anadolu high schools' Anadolu technical programs.

Final year high school students and graduates will experience the excitement of the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS) on June 20-21. The first session of YKS, the Basic Proficiency Test (TYT), will be held on June 20, while the second session, the Field Proficiency Tests (AYT), and the third session, the Foreign Language Test (YDT), will be held on June 21.

The second term of the 2025-2026 academic year will end on June 26.

Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin shared a post on his social media account regarding the reopening of schools after the mid-term break, stating: "Dear students, you refreshed your minds by resting during the mid-term break combined with the joy of the holiday. You enjoyed the holiday to the fullest by playing games with your friends. After this short break, we have reunited with our schools today. Now it's time to set our goals and work towards them. I wish ease in your teachers' efforts, who guide you in the new term and always support you, and I wish you success. Have a great week."
