In a statement made today by the UK government, it was noted that bird flu has been detected in a sheep for the first time in the UK. The statement indicated that during routine surveillance of caged birds where highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) had previously been recorded as very dangerous, it was identified in a sheep on a farm located in Yorkshire in the north of the country.
THERE IS NO INCREASED RISK FOR LIVESTOCK POPULATION IN THE COUNTRY
