Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan spoke for the first time about the agreement made between the YPG terrorist organization and the new administration in Syria. In statements made during a live broadcast on tv100, Minister Fidan emphasized that the agreement is valuable but that they are monitoring it closely.
MINISTER FIDAN: OUR RECOMMENDATION TO THE NEW ADMINISTRATION IS TO ENSURE THE RIGHTS OF SYRIAN KURDS
Minister Fidan stated: "What we have been saying from the very beginning is this: The new Syrian administration needs to take the initiative to end the YPG occupation and piracy. Our constant recommendation to the new administration is to ensure the rights of the Syrian Kurds. Unfortunately, this was not achieved during the Assad era. Now there is such a historic opportunity. In contrast, it is essential for all elements involved in unofficial terrorist activities in the region to be excluded from the equation, for life to return to normal, and for all influences to return to a normal life.
"THERE MAY BE MINES LAID FOR THE FUTURE"
In the 21st century, it is unacceptable for weapons to spill blood at our borders in a world where everyone enjoys happiness and prosperity. There are sensitive issues regarding security for us. Especially regarding the YPG, everything may be on the agenda, including traps laid for the future. If there is an agreement signed in good faith, let it be implemented. However, there may be mines laid for the future there. As Turkey, we are closely monitoring this. Hopefully, there will be a transition to normal life peacefully without too much bloodshed, and terrorism will end.
