Former AKUT president Mahruki, who made two separate posts criticizing the Supreme Election Council regarding election security, was arrested for "publicly disseminating misleading information."
"THESE STATEMENTS ARE VERY DANGEROUS"
A striking statement came from Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç, to whom attention was drawn regarding the issue. Minister Tunç stated, "If there is a criminal element in social media posts, an investigation is initiated," and added, "It is our judges who will evaluate this. You are reading these posts. There are statements that the government won the elections through fraud. There are claims that millions of terrorists have entered Turkey under the guise of refugees and that these will drag Turkey into a civil war. These statements are very dangerous. These have been evaluated as expressions that the judiciary sees as criminal elements, and an investigation has been initiated."
"WE SEE WHO VOTED BY NAME"
Responding to criticism directed at the Supreme Election Council, Minister Tunç said, "We all see how transparently the elections are conducted. We see who voted by name at the ballot box where we cast our votes. Again, we all see the ballot reports on the YSK website. It is our judiciary that will decide whether this constitutes a crime. We must respect the law."
