After the earthquakes that occurred in the Kulu district of Konya, the first comment came from Prof. Dr. Naci Görür. In his statement, Görür said, "It could affect the entire region."
According to the information on the website of the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), an earthquake was recorded with its epicenter in the Kulu district of Konya. The earthquake occurred at 14:44 with a magnitude of 4.2. It was determined that the earthquakes occurred at a depth of 11.42 kilometers.
SECOND EARTHQUAKE OCCURRED
Following the 4.2 magnitude earthquake, another earthquake with a magnitude of 3.6 occurred. The depth of the earthquake that occurred in the same region was measured at 2.9 kilometers.
CAUSED PANIC
It was reported that citizens living in the district experienced a brief panic following the consecutive earthquakes; however, it was stated that the earthquake did not cause any loss of life or property.
FIRST COMMENT FROM NACİ GÖRÜR
After the earthquake, seismologist Prof. Dr. Naci Görür shared his first assessment with the public through a post on his social media account regarding the Konya earthquakes.
Görür wrote, "Today, a shallow earthquake of magnitude 4.2 occurred in the Konya, Tavşancı-Kulu region," and added, "It is not clearly visible on the map, but this earthquake occurred on the right-lateral strike-slip Eskişehir Fault Zone, which continues towards Tuzgölü. This fault is a major fault that could affect the region, including Eskişehir."
