The first reaction from the DEM Party came after the detention of Mersin's Mediterranean Municipality co-mayors Hoşyar Sarıyıldız and Nuriye Aslan. In a written statement, the party said, "The AK Party government does not abandon its coup-like practices against the will of the people. The government, which conducts anti-Kurdish activities both domestically and abroad and cannot tolerate the will of the people, is doomed to lose even more, no matter what it does."
Co-chairs Hoşyar Sarıyıldız and Nuriye Arslan of the DEM Party, along with 4 council members, were detained in the morning hours at the Mediterranean Municipality in Mersin.
ALLEGATION OF "APPOINTMENT OF A TRUSTEE"
It was noted that police took extensive security measures in front of and around the building during the search conducted at the municipality building, while no official statement regarding whether a trustee was appointed to the Mediterranean Municipality has been made.
DEM PARTY'S REACTION WAS IMMEDIATE
The DEM Party also reacted to the detention of the co-chairs and council members of the Mediterranean Municipality with a written statement.
"IT IS SAID THAT THE INVESTIGATION BELONGS TO 2024"
In the statement, it was said, "The AK Party government does not abandon its coup-like practices against the will of the people. In the morning hours, our co-chairs of Mersin Mediterranean Municipality, Hoşyar Sarıyıldız and Nuriye Arslan, along with 4 of our municipal council members, were detained. The people's municipality has been besieged by law enforcement, as we have witnessed in previous examples, and entry and exit to the municipality have been blocked. It is said that the investigation, which is used as a justification for detention and trustee appointment, belongs to the year 2024."
