U.S. President Joe Biden, who will transfer his duties to Donald Trump in the oath-taking ceremony to be held tomorrow, stated regarding the ceasefire achieved in Gaza, "The war that has been ongoing for 15 months has been halted with the ceasefire. The ceasefire was achieved with our support."
Tomorrow, U.S. President Joe Biden, who will hand over his duties in the oath ceremony, made statements regarding the ceasefire in Gaza for the last time.
Highlights from Biden's statements are as follows:
"THE CEASEFIRE WAS ACHIEVED WITH OUR SUPPORT"
"After long negotiations, the prisoner exchange has begun. The war that has been ongoing for 15 months has been halted with the ceasefire. There is great destruction in Gaza. The ceasefire was achieved with our support. The support of Qatar and Egypt paved the way for the ceasefire to come into effect; the negotiations were not easy at all. However, at the point we have reached today, we have put significant pressure on both Hamas and Israel."
"COUNTRIES IN THE REGION ARE SEEKING A HEALTHIER FUTURE"
Through our efforts between Israel and Lebanon, we have also established a ceasefire in Lebanon. Today, Iran is in a very weak position. There is a great opportunity in Lebanon, and a future without Hezbollah is anticipated. In Syria, free governments are being established without Assad and Hezbollah. Countries in the region are seeking a path to a healthier future.
"WE REACHED THIS POINT WITH GREAT DIFFICULTY"
We faced many significant obstacles, but somehow we were able to succeed. A 6-week ceasefire has begun. Achieving the ceasefire and the prisoner exchange is a point we have reached after going through great difficulties. The U.S. administration will continue to follow the progress of this process."
