In recent years, Konya has been in the news due to the formation of sinkholes. The moment of the formation of a sinkhole was recorded by a farmer with his mobile phone. In the incident that occurred in the Çumra district, a sinkhole formed on the side of the canal that carries water from the Apa Dam.



ONCE AGAIN, A SINKHOLE IN KONYA

Due to the excessive and unbalanced use of underground water, sinkholes have been frequently observed in Konya in recent years. A sinkhole formed on the side of the dam canal close to the road in the Çumra district. As a result of the sinkhole, a 5-meter collapse occurred on the road, and 47 cubic meters of water were cut off in the dam area. The General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works (DSİ) team went to the region and initiated work related to the incident.
