Former Bitlis Governor Erol Karaömeroğlu, who was injured in a traffic accident in the Kangal district of Sivas, passed away at the age of 55. In the accident, Karaömeroğlu's wife, son, and the driver of the other vehicle were also injured.

On the previous day in Sivas, around 21:00, a collision occurred between a car with license plate 55 HN 055, driven by Erol Karaömeroğlu (55), the former Governor of Bitlis and Chief Inspector of the Ministry of Interior, and a car with license plate 58 NP 389, driven by Yaşar Soydanlı, at the Halep Bridge area on the Sivas-Malatya highway in Kangal district.
FORMER BITLIS GOVERNOR PASSES AWAY
Erol Karaömeroğlu, along with his wife Filiz and son Metehan Karaömeroğlu, as well as the other driver Yaşar Soydanlı, were injured. The injured were taken by ambulance to Sivas Cumhuriyet University Medical Faculty Hospital by health teams.
Erol Karaömeroğlu, who was being treated in the intensive care unit, unfortunately could not be saved despite all the doctors' interventions today around noon.
MINISTER YERLİKAYA'S CONDOLENCES MESSAGE
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, in a condolence message published on his official social media account, stated, "I wish God's mercy upon our former Bitlis Governor Erol Karaömeroğlu, who passed away after a tragic traffic accident, and I extend my condolences to his grieving family and our Interior Ministry family. I wish a speedy recovery to his wife and beloved child, who were injured in the same accident."
SIVAS GOVERNOR: I WISH MY BROTHER GOD'S MERCY
Sivas Governor Yılmaz Şimşek published a condolence message on his social media account, stating, "Unfortunately, we have lost my friend and brother Erol Karaömeroğlu, who was undergoing treatment in our province after the traffic accident. I wish God's mercy upon my brother and extend my condolences to his relatives, loved ones, and our administrative community. May his place be paradise."
