Within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the crimes of 'establishing and managing an organization for the purpose of committing crimes', 'bribery', and 'money laundering from criminal proceeds', an operation was carried out yesterday by the teams of the Provincial Police Department's Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime (KOM) Branch against 23 suspects in 3 provinces centered in Bursa.
FORMER NİLÜFER MAYOR ERDEM AND HIS WIFE DETAINED
In the simultaneous operation, 21 people, including former Nilüfer Mayor Turgay Erdem and his wife Zeynep Terzioğlu Erdem, were detained. It was learned that 2 individuals were abroad, and searches were conducted at 24 residences and 8 company addresses, as well as 12 vehicles belonging to the suspects.
TAKEN TO HOSPITAL AFTER FALLING ILL
While the procedures of the suspects at the KOM Branch Directorate were ongoing, it was learned that former mayor Turgay Erdem fell ill yesterday evening and was taken to the hospital. Erdem, who was taken to Bursa City Hospital around 21:00 and underwent all necessary tests, was found to have no health issues. Erdem was discharged from the hospital at midnight, and the procedures for him and the other suspects at the police station are ongoing.
