A company named New World, which organizes wedding events in Gaziosmanpaşa, Istanbul, has started to experience significant grievances following the March 31 elections. The company, registered with the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce and has been paying its taxes regularly for years, was providing services to hundreds of citizens by organizing demonstrations, congresses, trade fairs, and similar events. CONTRACT TERMINATED UNILATERALLYHowever, with the local elections resulting in the municipality transitioning from the AK Party to the CHP, the company's contract, which was set to expire in October 2026, was unilaterally terminated, and the venue was sealed. MIDNIGHT OPERATION BY THE MUNICIPALITYThe municipality's main move came recently with a midnight operation. In the evening hours, teams set up barricades at the entrance of the venue before a wedding event for 700 people, attempting to block entry. After the wedding hosts gathered and removed the barricades with the help of bulldozers to set up tables, Gaziosmanpaşa Municipality teams, which conducted an operation that included the deputy mayor at midnight, aimed to demolish the venue this time by tearing up the road with construction machinery. COMPANY OFFICIALS SPOKE TO HABERLER.COMAs images related to the incident emerged, officials from New World shared their grievances with Haberler.com. The officials stated, "The expiration date of our contract is October 2026, but the municipality wants to evict us by unilaterally terminating our contract. Our request is; We have made a huge investment here and are operating a wedding hall. The weddings we sell are always for future dates. As you can appreciate, wedding hosts always book the venue in advance. If such a situation occurs, both our customers and we will experience significant grievances. Our request is to remain there until the end of our contract period. We have requested an appointment from the mayor several times, but we have not been successful. The General Manager of Gopaş A.Ş. stated that the mayor wants to evict us from here."
