As China's rapid rise in the automotive sector continues to cause a contraction in the European automotive industry, the German automotive supplier giant has decided to leave Turkey. The German company Farhym, which has been operating in Ankara and Adana for about 25 years, has decided to sell its production facilities in Turkey to the local firm Turna Ahşap.

The German automotive supplier giant Farhym has decided to exit Turkey and has sold its production facilities in Turkey to Turna Ahşap. According to a column by Kerim Ülker in Dünya Gazetesi, the ongoing rapid rise of China's automotive sector continues to push global brands into financial difficulties.

THEY HAVE DECIDED TO EXIT TURKEY

Last month, one of Germany's largest automotive suppliers, Linde + Wiemann, decided to terminate its partnership at its production facility in Turkey. Now, another German automotive supplier giant is leaving Turkey. Farhym, owned by Hymer, one of Germany's most important group companies that came to Turkey in 2003 and established a production facility, has decided to exit Turkey.

FARHYM IS SELLING ALL OF ITS SHARES TO TURNA AHŞAP

The German giant, which made this decision in the last periods of the previous year, has spoken with many companies. Farhym, which produces in Adana and Ankara, has decided to sell all of its shares to Turna Ahşap, a manufacturer based in Ankara. Previously, the sale process of Farhym had come to the agenda, but the transaction had not been completed. If this process is completed, the German giant will completely withdraw from Turkey.

Bülent Akgöl, who previously held senior management positions in various countries abroad on behalf of Mercedes-Benz and then served as CEO of Farhym Automotive in Turkey, stated, "Unfortunately, the variable market conditions in recent years and the contraction experienced worldwide, especially in the automotive sector, had a significant impact on the German investor company's decision to take this step."

Farhym, a system supplier for commercial vehicle manufacturers operating worldwide, also produces in Poland in addition to Turkey. Turna Ahşap, which acquired the company that provides integrated facilities for the design of the interiors of commercial vehicles, was established in 1994 by Mehmet Saygun in Düzce. The company, which established a new factory in Ankara-Cubuk in 2022, has a total production area of over 20,000 square meters.
