There will be zero tolerance for such horrific violence in the United States."
Democratic State House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark Hortman lost their lives in a shooting incident in the United States.
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and state officials stated at a press conference regarding the incident that the Hortman couple was shot and killed by an assailant disguised as a police officer around 2:00 AM, saying, "Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark lost their lives in what appears to be a politically motivated assassination early this morning."
TRUMP'S STRONG REACTION
U.S. President Donald Trump, in a statement regarding the attack, said that such horrific attacks would not be tolerated in the United States.
According to a statement shared by White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt on the social media platform X, President Donald Trump noted that Attorney General Pam Bondi and the FBI are conducting an investigation into the attack.
Trump stated, "Everyone involved in the incident will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. There will never be tolerance for such horrific violence in the United States. God bless the wonderful people of Minnesota. It truly is a great place."
STATEMENT FROM THE ATTORNEY GENERAL
U.S. Attorney General Bondi also reported that she is "closely monitoring" developments in Minnesota following what appears to be a "targeted attack" on state lawmakers.
In a post on her X account, Bondi stated, "The FBI is investigating this case on the ground with state and local partners. There will be no tolerance for this horrific violence, and prosecution will be initiated to the fullest extent of the law."
