The Greek administration was warned by a Turkish corvette in the region when it once again conducted research activities outside its jurisdiction in the Aegean. However, the Greek media distorted the incident, reporting it as "Turkey's provocation."
Despite Turkey's legitimate rights in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Aegean Sea, harassment actions continue unabated. The Athens administration once again sent research vessels to the area north of the island of Crete.
The research vessels named "NG WORKER" and "İEVOLİ RELUME" were warned by a Turkish corvette while sailing outside Greek territorial waters. While sailing approximately 7 nautical miles north of Crete, the Turkish vessel warned the ships via radio, stating that they were in a maritime area "outside of Greek jurisdiction" and urged them to leave. It called on the vessels to return to Greek waters, indicating that they had exited Greek territorial waters.
THEY DISTORTED THE FACTS
However, the attempt to violate rights, which was also accompanied by a frigate belonging to the Greek Navy, was distorted by the Greek media. The Greek media reported the incident again by distorting it as "Turkey's provocation." The news, which did not mention the attempt to seize Turkey's rights, noted that the research vessels "NG WORKER" and "İEVOLİ RELUME" were conducting research activities within the scope of an electricity connection project between Crete and Cyprus.
