In Sakarya, a car lost control and crashed into the barriers due to slippery roads caused by rain. In the accident, 82-year-old Ömer Lütfi Irmak lost his life, while his 77-year-old wife was injured. It was learned that the elderly couple was on their way from Uşak to Kocaeli to visit their son, who works as a doctor, as well as their daughter-in-law and grandchildren.

A heartbreaking accident occurred at the Devebağırtan curve in the Örencik neighborhood of Geyve district on the Sakarya-Bilecik D-650 highway. Ömer Lütfi Irmak (82), driving a Mercedes with license plate 64 KK 161, lost control of the vehicle due to the slippery road caused by rain. The swerving car crashed into the barriers. Driver Ömer Lütfi Irmak and his wife N.I. (77) were injured in the accident.

ACCIDENT SEPARATED THE ELDERLY COUPLE

Upon notification, fire, medical, and gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the area. The teams that arrived at the scene rescued driver Ömer Lütfi Irmak, who was trapped in the wrecked car, and handed him over to the medical teams. The injured couple was taken to Sakarya Training and Research Hospital after initial interventions. Despite the efforts made here, driver Ömer Lütfi Irmak could not be saved and passed away.
