A funeral ceremony was held in Sivas for martyr police officer Şeyda Yılmaz, who was shot dead by a theft suspect in the Ümraniye district of Istanbul. The coffin of martyr Şeyda Yılmaz, wrapped in the Turkish flag, was brought to her hometown of Sivas after the ceremony held at the Istanbul Provincial Police Department.
HEAVY ATTENDANCE AT THE FUNERAL
A funeral prayer was held for martyr Yılmaz at the Yukarı Tekke Ayyıldız Mosque after the afternoon prayer. The prayer was attended by Sivas Governor Yılmaz Şimşek, Deputy Minister of Interior Münir Karaloğlu, AK Party Sivas MP Hakan Aksu, CHP Sivas MP Ulaş Karasu, General Director of Security Mahmut Demirtaş, Commander of the 5th Infantry Training Brigade Infantry Colonel Cüneyt Mutlu, Sivas Mayor Adem Uzun, provincial protocol, her father Mehmet and mother Nurgül Yağlı, colleagues, and citizens.

Before the funeral prayer, the martyr's wife Semih Yılmaz came in uniform and embraced her martyr husband's coffin. Yılmaz, who kissed her husband's coffin and laid her head on it, cried for a long time. Semih Yılmaz, embracing her husband's coffin, cried, "We took leave to come, may the homeland be safe. Did you want it so much, Sivas?" The martyr's mother Nurgül and father Mehmet Yağlı also cried as they kissed their daughter's coffin and photo. After the funeral prayer, the body of Şehit Yılmaz was laid to rest in the Police Martyrs' Cemetery with tears.
It was learned that martyr police officer Şeyda Yılmaz, who joined the police force in December 2023, graduated from the Ankara Police Vocational School 9 months ago and her first duty station was the İzmir Provincial Police Department. It was reported that Şeyda Yılmaz, who married her colleague Semih Yılmaz about a year ago, was assigned to Istanbul due to her marital status.
