In the investigation regarding the arson of a car in Samsun, 2 people were arrested, and 1 person was released under judicial control. It was revealed that one of the arrested suspects is M.D., who was referred to as a "hero courier" for saving a child who was about to fall from a window years ago.
The person who was recognized as a "heroic courier" for saving a child about to fall from a window in Samsun has been arrested for the crime of vehicle arson. Another suspect detained in connection with the incident was sent to prison, while one person was released under judicial control.
The incident occurred in the early hours of March 5, Thursday, in the parking lot of a residence in the Büyükoyumca neighborhood of Atakum district in Samsun. According to the information obtained, a fire broke out in a car belonging to C.D. (27). Firefighters who arrived at the scene upon notification extinguished the fire, and it was initially stated that the fire might have been caused by an electrical fault.
However, an examination of the site's security cameras revealed that the incident was arson. The footage showed a person wearing a ski mask approaching the vehicle and setting it on fire.
120 SECURITY CAMERAS EXAMINED
Teams from the Homicide Bureau of the Samsun Police Department's Public Order Branch launched a comprehensive investigation to clarify the incident. Police teams examined approximately 120 security cameras, tracking the suspect's route step by step.
As a result of the investigations, it was determined that the person who committed the arson was M.D. (35) through a foot tracking operation covering approximately 15 kilometers.
HAD DONE IT FOR MONEY
It was learned that M.D., who was detained, stated in his testimony that the arson incident was commissioned by M.K. (43) for money. M.D. mentioned that two days before the incident, he had scouted the area with a vehicle belonging to his friend M.S. (37), and on the day of the incident, he arrived at the scene on an electric scooter, set the vehicle on fire, and left the area again on the scooter.
As part of the investigation, M.K. and M.S. were also captured and detained by the Homicide Bureau teams.
2 PEOPLE ARRESTED
After their procedures at the police station, the suspects M.D. and M.K., who were sent to the Samsun Courthouse, were arrested by the duty magistrate and sent to prison. M.S. was released under judicial control.
It was learned that the arrested M.D. had saved a child about to fall from a window while working as a motorcycle courier in 2019, and after this incident, he was recognized as a "heroic courier" by the public.
