Nermin Taylan Erkutlu, who has been giving various talks as a "Historian Writer" in municipalities, has been claimed to be without a diploma. It was announced by Istanbul University that Erkutlu is not a graduate of the "Department of Turkish Language and Literature" as stated in her biography. In a social media statement, Erkutlu denied the allegations, saying, "I have a history diploma."
It has been claimed that Nermin Taylan Erkutlu, known for her research on Ottoman archives and giving talks in municipalities with the title "Historian Writer," does not have a diploma.
STATED THAT SHE DOES NOT HAVE A GRADUATE DEGREE FROM ISTANBUL UNIVERSITY
It was noted that Erkutlu, who also participated in various talks held in middle and high schools, stated in her biography that she is a graduate of the Department of Turkish Language and Literature at Istanbul University. Following applications made to CİMER regarding Erkutlu, Istanbul University announced that there is no record of such a graduation in Erkutlu's records.
In the response given by the Dean of the Faculty of Arts at Istanbul University, it was stated, "No diploma has been issued to a person named Nermin Taylan Erkutlu by our Faculty."

Following the news that made headlines, Erkutlu made a statement on her social media account.
Claiming that the response from CİMER was due to a name change, Erkutlu stated, "I am a historian with a HISTORY diploma from one of the oldest universities of the Republic of Turkey."
The full statement of Erkutlu is as follows:
"The title 'Historian Without a Diploma' attributed to me by an internet newspaper is entirely false and slanderous, and I hereby announce that the necessary legal actions will be taken. The news based on a response they received due to a name change is unfounded.
I AM A HISTORIAN WITH A HISTORY DIPLOMA FROM ONE OF THE OLDEST UNIVERSITIES OF THE REPUBLIC OF TURKEY. I emphasize that those who made the news and those who commented on this false news will be held accountable through legal and court proceedings."
