Manisa football is going through a nightmarish period. The teams from this province, which have appeared on the European stage and in the Super League, and have won trophies, are now hitting rock bottom one by one.

The representatives of Manisa in professional football leagues are sinking one by one. While the city's most established clubs, Manisaspor and Akhisarspor, have been dragged into the amateur league, Manisa Football Club is experiencing the fear of relegation from the 1st League, and Turgutlu 1984, formerly known as Turgutluspor, has also fallen to amateur status.
MANİSASPOR HAS HIT ROCK BOTTOM, NOW ON THE ROAD TO BAL
Manisaspor, which represented Manisa in the Super League between 2005-2008 and 2009-2012, has not been able to rise again after falling to amateur status in 2021 due to heavy debt and a transfer ban. This season, Manisaspor, which is trying to rise from the ashes in the Manisa Super Amateur League, is aiming for the Regional Amateur League. The historic representative of Manisa, which finished its group undefeated in the Super Amateur League, is competing in the Play-Offs to move up to the Regional Amateur League. Manisaspor received the championship trophy in its group before the last home match in the Play-Offs. The black-and-white club had bid farewell to the professional league in 2021.
AKHİSARSPOR, WHICH SAW EUROPE, HAS CLOSED ITS DOORS
Akhisarspor, which emerged as a district team from Manisa and competed in the Super League for 7 seasons between 2012-2019, made history by winning the Turkish Cup and Super Cup in 2018 by defeating giants like Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray in the finals, and represented our country in the UEFA Europa League group stage, has closed its doors this year after falling to the Regional Amateur League last season.
This season, Akhisarspor, which has a squad with its biggest player being 19 years old, has been unable to find a goalkeeper and has had to play its right-back as a goalkeeper, while also unable to have a substitute player on the bench to bring into the game. With a transfer ban, Akhisarspor lost its first 5 matches in the Regional Amateur League, conceding 42 goals and failing to score. Sinking to the bottom, Akhisarspor decided to withdraw from the league due to neglect and problems it faced.
MANİSA FK MAY BE RELEGATED
Manisa FK, which changed its name from Manisa Büyükşehir Belediyespor during the period when Manisaspor fell to amateur status, has climbed from amateur to the 1st League but has not been able to wake up from its nightmare this season. With 1 draw and 3 losses in the last 4 matches, the black-and-white team is currently in the relegation zone with 38 points, just 4 weeks before the end of the season.
TURGUTLU 1984 HAS FALLEN
In the 3rd League 4th Group, 7 Eylül Turgutlu 1984 Sportif, which was in last place, lost hope for salvation with 2 weeks remaining and experienced the sadness of falling to the amateur leagues after 8 years. Last appearing in the Regional Amateur League in 2017, Turgutlu was promoted to the 2nd League in 2020 but was relegated in 2022, and could not escape returning to amateur status. The other representative of the city in professional leagues, Somaspor, is also struggling in the lower ranks of the 2nd League Red Group. The Turgutlu team had transitioned to a corporate structure at the beginning of the season.
NEW STADIUMS REMAIN AMATEUR
With the decline of Akhisarspor and Turgutlu 1984 to amateur status, the two new modern stadiums built in Manisa have also closed their doors to professional matches. The Spor Toto Akhisar Stadium, one of Turkey's most modern sports facilities, opened in 2018 with a capacity of 12,000 spectators, has remained idle after the team decided not to play matches at the beginning of the season. Turgutlu, which waited 11 years for the completion of its new UEFA-standard stadium with a capacity of 12,000, fell to amateur status in its first season. The red-black team experienced the pain of relegation in the modern stadium that opened in the second half of this season. Despite their teams hitting rock bottom, the Manisa 19 Mayıs Stadium, used by Manisa FK, was largely renovated last year, and the construction of Somaspor's new stadium is nearing completion.
