In a fire at a hotel in the Bolu Kartalkaya Ski Resort, where 237 guests were present, initial reports indicate that 10 people lost their lives and 32 others were injured. It has also been revealed that the nightly accommodation fee for the hotel, which was built years ago, is 37,800 TL.
A fire broke out at the Grand Kartal Hotel, located at an altitude of 2,200 meters in Kartalkaya, one of Turkey's important ski resorts, around 03:30. The fire, which started in the middle of the night, spread rapidly due to the hotel's wooden exterior cladding. Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that 10 people lost their lives in the fire, and 32 others were injured.
FIELD HOSPITAL ESTABLISHED
It was noted that the wooden cladding of the Grand Kartal Hotel's exterior accelerated the fire, and a field hospital was established in the area. Gendarmerie teams are also on standby in the region.
INVESTIGATION INITIATED
Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç announced that a judicial investigation has been initiated by the Bolu Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the fire, and 6 public prosecutors have been assigned, along with the formation of a 5-member expert committee. Tunç also stated that the investigation is being conducted meticulously.
CHIEF INSPECTORS ASSIGNED
Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan stated that 4 chief inspectors have been assigned regarding the incident. Işıkhan added that they are closely monitoring the process as a ministry. Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş stated, "We are closely following the process with our psychosocial support teams" regarding the fire.
HOTEL TURNED INTO A RUIN
While firefighting efforts continue at the hotel where the fire broke out, the interior of the hotel was filmed. It was observed that the interior had turned into a ruin due to the fire in the filmed areas.
NIGHTLY PRICE SHOCKED
On the other hand, the hotel that became a grave for 10 people is known as the most expensive and luxurious hotel in the region. It was seen on a listing site that the nightly price for the hotel for 2 people is 37,800 TL.
