While search and rescue operations continue at the collapsed 7-story building in Gebze, it has been learned that the five people trapped under the rubble are members of the Bilir family, consisting of a mother, father, and three children, who had been residing in the building for approximately two years. Hasan Durbaba, one of the neighborhood residents, stated in a press release, "When we woke up for the morning prayer, we saw that our neighboring building collapsed with a noise. When we ran over, the building was completely tilted. The building is 6 stories tall. There is a pharmacy and a penthouse. My friend is in the building with his wife and 3 children. Right now, a family of 5 is waiting to be rescued between the 2nd and 3rd floors," he said.

Durbaba continued his remarks: "There is a metro passing under our building. Because of the metro, they put a mark on our buildings two years ago. They check every 15 days to see if there is any sinking or tilting. It is already visible on the exterior of the buildings; there is a mark.

It is said that the building was damaged in the Balıkesir earthquake. The owner of the pharmacy has called the contractor who built the building. There have been rumors of 'cracks'.
