In an operation against usury organized by the Karabük Provincial Police Department, 2 out of 4 suspects were arrested. While millions of lira in transactions were detected in the suspects' bank accounts, it was learned that one of the arrested individuals was an imam. Additionally, it was revealed that one of the suspects who was released under judicial control was a muezzin.
In Karabük, 2 out of 4 suspects detained in an operation conducted on the grounds of usury were arrested. It was learned that one of the arrested individuals is an imam.
As part of the efforts carried out by the Karabük Provincial Police Department's Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Division, Z.D., O.E., A.D., and A.P. were detained in a simultaneous operation conducted on November 25, 2025.
45 MILLION LIRA MOVEMENT
In the examination of the suspects' bank accounts, it was determined that there was a money movement amounting to 45 million 496 thousand 815 TL.
During searches at the addresses and on the individuals, a Glock brand pistol, 96 cartridges, 5 promissory notes worth 2 million 250 thousand TL, 44 thousand TL believed to be obtained from the crime, credit cards belonging to the victims, and a notebook containing payment tracking notes were seized.
ONE OF THE ARRESTED IS AN IMAM
After the procedures at the police station were completed, the suspects were referred to the courthouse. While O.E. and A.P. were released under judicial control, imam Z.D. and A.D. were arrested and sent to the Karabük Closed Penal Institution. It was also learned that one of those released under judicial control is a muezzin.
