An IETT bus that collided with a car crashed into a pastry shop located at the entrance of a five-story building in Üsküdar. Four people, including the bus driver, were injured in the incident. The terrifying moments were captured by security cameras, and a witness who saw the accident said, "The bus was completely inside. We think the bus's brakes failed. We narrowly escaped a major disaster. It seems we had a fate that saved us."
At around 11:20 in the Cumhuriyet neighborhood of Üsküdar district in Istanbul, terrifying moments were experienced.
IETT BUS CRASHED INTO A PASTRY SHOP
According to the information obtained; the IETT bus numbered 10EK, which was on the Kozyatağı-Esatpaşa route, crashed into a car and then lost control, crashing into a pastry shop at the entrance of a 5-story building. Upon notification, a large number of health, fire, and police teams were dispatched to the scene.
4 PEOPLE INJURED
Health teams took the bus driver and 3 others who were injured in the accident to the hospital after their first interventions. It was learned that no customers were injured in the pastry shop during the accident. While the bus that crashed into the pastry shop was being removed by a tow truck, teams started an investigation into the accident.
ACCIDENT MOMENTS CAPTURED ON CAMERA
The moments when the IETT bus crashed into the pastry shop were captured by a workplace security camera. In the footage, it can be seen that after hitting the car in front of the bus at the intersection, it continued to move forward and stopped after crashing into the pastry shop.
"THE VEHICLE IN FRONT ESCAPED AT THE LAST MOMENT"
During the accident, Tahsin Ören, who was in the pastry shop, said, "The bus suddenly moved. I hid myself inside, it went straight in here. There was a vehicle in front of it. It escaped at the last moment; otherwise, it could have taken it with it. A car hit from behind, then it threw itself to the side," he said.
"WE ESCAPED A GREAT TRAGEDY"
Hüseyin Demir, who witnessed the accident, said, "I live on the opposite street. I heard a sound, ran to see. The bus had entered my brother's shop. I was scared something happened to my brother, but when I saw nothing happened, I was relieved. The bus was completely inside. We think the bus's brake failed. They say the pedal got stuck. We escaped a great tragedy. We had our luck. What makes us happy is that no one was under the bus. It is said that there are 4 injured, including the driver," he said.
