700 kilograms of cheese, which should have been transported under cold chain conditions, was seized at the Antalya bus terminal while being transported under inappropriate conditions. While the products were destroyed, the carrier company was also fined.
The municipal police and security teams at the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Intercity Bus Terminal inspected eight boxes and four sacks unloaded by a bus company at the passenger drop-off platforms. The boxes contained 400 kilograms of cheese that needed to be transported under cold chain conditions, while the sacks contained 300 kilograms of tulum cheese filled in barrels. The municipal police teams informed the District and Forestry Directorate teams.
PENALTY FOR THE CARRYING COMPANY
During the inspections, it was determined that the cheeses were not transported at the appropriate temperature, were carried under unhealthy conditions, and posed a threat to public health. A report was prepared for the violation of the cheese regulation under the Veterinary Services, Plant Health, Food and Feed Law No. 5996, and an administrative fine was imposed on the carrying company.
ALL WERE DESTROYED
Mustafa Kaya, the Terminal Municipal Police Chief, who provided information about the inspections at the Antalya Intercity Bus Terminal, stated, "Information was given to the Kepez District Agriculture and Forestry Directorate because the 400 kilograms of cheese and 300 kilograms of tulum cheese unloaded at the terminal in the morning were transported under improper conditions. The teams that conducted the inspections decided to destroy them due to inappropriate temperatures. The destruction was carried out by our municipality's waste management garbage truck," he said.
