Adem Soytekin, the owner of a construction company who was arrested as part of the 'corruption' investigation against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and was released under judicial control by benefiting from the effective remorse provisions, has been re-arrested.
The corruption investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was removed from his position as the Mayor of Istanbul, and 99 suspects for the crimes of 'being a leader of a criminal organization', 'being a member of a criminal organization', 'bribery', 'corruption', 'qualified fraud', 'illegally obtaining personal data', and 'interfering with a tender' is ongoing.
HE HAD BEEN RELEASED
Adem Soytekin, the owner of a construction company who was arrested for the crimes of 'giving bribes' and 'being a member of an organization established for the purpose of committing crimes', gave a statement to the prosecutor's office on June 20 under the provisions of effective remorse. Soytekin was released under judicial control measures in the form of 'not leaving the residence'.
IT WAS DETERMINED THAT HIS STATEMENTS WERE FALSE
However, it was determined that some of Soytekin's statements were false, that he was trying to distance himself from the 'organization', that he narrated the allegations of facilitating the bribery in the actions as if he was unaware, and that he attempted to present himself as if he had taken over some apartments that were said to be transferred to him regarding the crimes and actions, while also trying to conceal the sources of illicit gains and assets. As a result, Soytekin was re-arrested on October 21, 2025.
IMAMOGLU'S LAWYER WAS ARRESTED WITH 'WITNESS' STATEMENT
After Adem Soytekin's "effective remorse" statement, Ekrem İmamoğlu's lawyer Mehmet Pehlivan was arrested on the charge of "being a member of a criminal organization".
