"HE SAID HE WOULD DIVORCE HIS WIFE"

The indictment prepared by the Burdur Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the incident has been completed. In her statement included in the indictment, Seray Öztürk detailed the events that occurred before and on the day of the incident, as well as her relationship with Adnan Bedir. She stated that she had been in a relationship with Adnan Bedir for 3 years, that she did not know he was married in the early stages, and that she ended their relationship after learning the situation. Seray Öztürk claimed that they resumed their relationship when Bedir said he would divorce his wife. She mentioned that when Adnan Bedir realized he had not told his wife about their relationship, he called Özge Bedir to inform her and sent her the photos they had taken together via WhatsApp. After a while, Özge Bedir invited her to her home for a face-to-face meeting, and she went with a friend, but the meeting did not take place. Subsequently, Özge Bedir filed a complaint against her, which she later withdrew.

"DON'T COME, SO THERE WON'T BE A PROBLEM"

Seray Öztürk recounted that Adnan Bedir frequently told them that his wife Özge Bedir had made insulting and harsh statements towards them. She claimed that these statements created pressure on her and her friend Tülay Alan. Öztürk stated that on the day of the incident, she and Tülay Alan went to Özge Bedir's house, and Alan told her, "Don't come, so there won't be a problem," indicating that she wanted to talk to Bedir. Öztürk noted that they went to the site around 18:00, she waited two streets down from the site, while Tülay Alan went up to Özge Bedir's house.

"I NOTICED HER HANDS WERE BLEEDING"

Seray Öztürk explained that she waited for Tülay Alan's return for 15-20 minutes, and when her friend came back, her hands were in a bag, and she told her, "Shut up and walk." Öztürk stated that while they were walking, she noticed that Tülay Alan's hands were excessively bleeding, and Alan told her, "I cut my hands." After a while, Tülay Alan took off her bloody clothes and threw the bag she had placed them in into a wooded area near a bridge. Alan later explained to her what had happened, and Seray Öztürk stated that she did not accept the accusations.

"SHE CUT HER THROAT DURING THE STRUGGLE"

Tülay Alan, in her defense, stated that she knew Adnan Bedir as Seray Öztürk's boyfriend and that the two occasionally met at her house. She claimed that Özge Bedir harbored animosity towards her due to events that occurred before the incident. Tülay Alan said that when she called Özge Bedir, she was insulted. On the day of the incident, she expressed that they decided to go to Özge Bedir's house to talk, and Seray Öztürk asked her to wait at a point where she could see the entrance of the site, while she wore different clothes and a mask to avoid being recognized. When she arrived at Özge Bedir's house, she introduced herself and said she wanted to talk at the door, but she was invited inside. After entering the house, she heard the door being locked, and Özge Bedir came to her with a knife-like tool from the kitchen, and she wanted to leave the house, but Özge continued to insult her. At that moment, Özge Bedir pressed her wrists against the wall and cut her fingertips, leaving her hands covered in blood, and she saw that there was a struggle between them, during which Özge Bedir's throat was cut.

"I ACTED TO PROTECT MYSELF"

Tülay Alan stated that when she realized Özge Bedir had no strength left, she went to the kitchen to wash her hands, then took her bag and the knife and left the house. She mentioned that due to her bloody hand, she put it inside the bag, went to Seray Öztürk, and they started walking quickly. She took off her bloody clothes in the restroom of a mosque and put them in the bag, then later threw them under a tree in a side street. Tülay Alan explained that after a while, she told Seray Öztürk what had happened, and they returned home about 40-45 minutes later, after which the teams arrived at the scene. Tülay Alan claimed that she acted to protect herself due to Özge Bedir's attack. She argued that Adnan Bedir constantly provoked and incited her and Seray Öztürk against each other, and she expressed that she was filing a complaint against Adnan Bedir.

"I DID NOT DIRECT THEM TO HARM MY WIFE"

Adnan Bedir, in his defense, stated that the romantic relationship was revealed after Seray Öztürk sent photos to his wife via phone. He noted that they reconciled after a brief separation, but he later cut off communication with Seray Öztürk, who, despite this, tried to reach him through hidden numbers and different lines. Adnan Bedir expressed regret over his relationship with Seray Öztürk, stating that he wanted to spend time with his wife and children, and therefore wanted to end the relationship completely, but Öztürk did not accept this.

On the night of the incident, Adnan Bedir stated that he left home saying he was going to irrigate the field, first going to the field and then to Tülay Alan's house to meet Seray Öztürk, and that he left in the early morning hours. He expressed that he received messages from Öztürk during the day saying "I'm not well" in the evening, and when he couldn't reach her by phone, he went to Tülay Alan's house but couldn't find anyone. Shortly after, Adnan Bedir stated that his brother called him to come home, and when he arrived home, he saw police and medical teams and learned that his wife had been stabbed to death. Adnan Bedir stated that he did not direct Seray Öztürk and Tülay Alan to harm his wife and denied the accusations against him. He indicated that he held Öztürk and Alan responsible for his wife's death and said he was filing a complaint against both of them.

TRIAL HAS STARTED

The trial of the three detained defendants began at the Burdur 2nd High Criminal Court. In her statement, Seray Öztürk said, "I had a romantic relationship with Adnan 2.5 years ago. When I learned he was married, I went to my family in Samsun. I stayed for 5-6 months and then came to Burdur. I wanted to end the relationship, but he came to me with a thousand promises. He said, 'I will get a divorce.' Our relationship continued. He was making promises but not taking any steps. I told him I would tell his wife about our relationship. I sent our photos. On the day of the incident, Adnan was with me, and he made provocative remarks about his wife. Tülay went home to talk to Özge. After Tülay left the house, we walked for a while. They had blood on their hands. I said, 'What happened, tell me.' She was crying and couldn't explain. She said, 'Özge opened the door. She attacked with a knife, we struggled.' I called 112," she said.

"SHE SENT A MESSAGE SAYING 'ÖZGE IS HOME ALONE'"

Tülay Alan said, "I gave a false statement because of these two. On the day of the incident, Seray told me, 'Get ready, we are going.' We went to Adnan's house. I knocked on the door. I told Özge, 'I came to talk.' She invited me in. I told her that Adnan needed to get a divorce. Suddenly, she ran to the kitchen and came back with a knife. She said, 'I will kill you' and cursed and insulted me. She pinned me against the wall with the knife. The knife fell to the ground. She pulled my hair and threw me to the ground, trying to stab me. When I was leaving the house, Özge was alive. Seray was opening a fake account in Özge Bedir's name. On the day of the incident, Adnan called Seray and said, 'Özge is home alone, I took the girl and left. Just so you know,'" she said.

Adnan Bedir also stated, "I never said anything about what happened in my house, related to my wife or my family. On the day of the incident, I never said, 'I took the child from the house.' I didn't think they would do such a thing. I haven't seen my children for 8 months. I want to see my children," he said.

After hearing the witnesses, the court panel decided to continue the detention of the defendants and adjourned the hearing.

'THEY TOOK MY DAUGHTER AWAY FROM ME'

Speaking to reporters outside the courthouse, Özge Bedir's father, Mehmet Çetin, said, "I had a daughter. They took my daughter away from me. My son-in-law Adnan Bedir had her killed. I want all of them to be punished in the harshest way possible," he said.

The Çetin family's lawyer, Vesile Atay, said, "There were one or two issues we requested regarding the evidence that needed to be collected. The court panel evaluated this as well. We believe that justice will be served," he said.

Hatice Ürküt, the Chair of the Women's Rights Commission of the Burdur Bar Association, said, "This case is a case of femicide where human rights have been severely violated. One of the defendants is the husband, and the other two are women. Our request to participate in the case was rejected by the court. We will continue to follow the case," she said.

Ayşegül İrem Erdoğan, the Deputy Chair of the Women's Rights Commission of the Denizli Bar Association, said, "Our request to participate in the case was rejected. It doesn't matter to us. We are here to ensure the representation of women who are left alone while being killed by misogynistic policies in their quest for justice. We will continue to be here," she said.
