The Istanbul Governorship announced the measures to be taken in the megacity for New Year's Eve. The statement indicated that security, gendarmerie, and coast guard units would conduct effective and intensive inspections in crowded areas, hospitals would provide 24-hour service, and the entry of heavy vehicles and construction machinery into the districts of Sarıyer, Şişli, Beşiktaş, Beyoğlu, Fatih, Bakırköy, Zeytinburnu, and Kadıköy would be prohibited until 12:00 PM on January 1st.
With the new year approaching, the Istanbul Governorship announced the measures to be taken for New Year's Eve in the megacity. It was reported that all units, from security forces to healthcare workers, and from the Agriculture and Forestry Directorate to AFAD, will continue their work on New Year's Eve. Additionally, it was announced that the entry of heavy-tonnage vehicles and construction machinery into the districts of Sarıyer, Şişli, Beşiktaş, Beyoğlu, Fatih, Bakırköy, Zeytinburnu, and Kadıköy is prohibited until 12:00 PM on January 1.
7,225 LAND VEHICLES, 4 HELICOPTERS, 50,427 PERSONNEL FOR INSPECTIONS
The Istanbul Governorship's statement regarding the measures to be taken in Istanbul for ensuring safety and peace on New Year's Eve is as follows:
"All necessary measures have been taken to welcome the new year in peace and security in Istanbul and to experience the happiness of the new year.
As part of these measures:
Our Security, Gendarmerie, and Coast Guard units will be deployed throughout the city, especially in shopping centers, airports, bus terminals, and stations of public transportation, as well as in squares, areas, and entertainment venues where New Year celebrations will take place;
They will conduct effective and intensive inspections with 7,225 land vehicles, 37 sea units, 4 helicopters, and a total of 50,427 personnel at 1,661 points.
HOSPITALS WILL PROVIDE 24-HOUR SERVICE
All our hospitals will continue to provide health services 24 hours a day; the 112 Emergency Health Services will be on duty with 1,304 healthcare personnel at the command center and 340 stations.
AFAD, AKOM, FIRE DEPARTMENT ON ALERT
Our AFAD, AKOM, and fire department units will be on alert against fire and similar dangers.
Our Agriculture and Forestry Directorate will continue food and hygiene inspections with 813 personnel.
Our Trade Directorate will continue its inspections with 33 teams consisting of 90 personnel to protect the economic interests of our citizens and to prevent possible grievances due to exorbitant prices.
Metropolitan and district municipality police teams will carry out inspections and controls effectively.
Necessary precautions will be taken by the relevant institutions against interruptions and malfunctions in telephone, electricity, water, and natural gas services.
ENTRY OF SOME VEHICLES PROHIBITED IN 8 DISTRICTS
The entry of heavy-tonnage vehicles and construction machinery into the districts of Sarıyer, Şişli, Beşiktaş, Beyoğlu, Fatih, Bakırköy, Zeytinburnu, and Kadıköy has been prohibited from 08:00 AM on Wednesday, December 31, until 12:00 PM on Thursday, January 1."
