The Mayor of Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality, Prof. Dr. Yılmaz Büyükerşen, announced that he is stepping away from politics during the 4th Yunus Emre Honor Awards ceremony organized by the Mihalıççık Municipality.
The 4th Yunus Emre Honor Awards, organized by Mihalıççık Municipality, were presented to their recipients in a ceremony. Prof. Dr. Yılmaz Büyükerşen, who served as the Mayor of Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality for 25 years, was also awarded the honor for his contributions to academia, municipal services, and Yunus Emre.
After receiving his award, Büyükerşen made a brief speech, stating, "I announce that I have politically retired, and as your teacher who loves Atatürk and Yunus Emre, I express my wish to complete the remaining part of my life among you with your love."

Yılmaz Büyükerşen used the following expressions in his speech:
"As an academician and a citizen who believes in culture, art, and education, I believe that Yunus Emre's understanding, which places humanity at its center, is a compass we need now more than ever. I sincerely thank our esteemed Mihalıççık Mayor Haydar Çorum, everyone who contributed to the organization, and you dear friends who share this moment with me for this meaningful award. How happy I am, and at this beautiful moment, I announce that I have politically retired from now on as your teacher who has served you as an academician and a local politician; as your teacher who loves Atatürk and Yunus Emre, I express my wish to complete the remaining part of my life among you with your love."
