In the Regional Court of Appeals in Kartal, Istanbul, Public Prosecutor Muhammet Çağatay Kılıçaslan shot Judge Aslı Kahraman of the 23rd Criminal Chamber, who was allegedly obsessed. It was reported that Yakup Karadağ, a tea server who was present in the room and assigned to the courthouse as a convict, intervened by preventing a second shot from being fired.
In the Kartal Regional Court of Appeals, Public Prosecutor Muhammet Çağatay Kılıçaslan shot and injured Judge Aslı Kahraman while they were sitting in the room.
SHOT IN THE GROIN
The incident occurred around 1:00 PM at the Kartal Regional Court of Appeals. Public Prosecutor Muhammet Çağatay Kılıçaslan fired a weapon at Judge Aslı Kahraman while they were sitting in the room. Kahraman was injured in the groin area.
CONVICTED TEA SELLER SAVED HER
Yakup Karadağ, a convicted tea seller assigned to the courthouse from Maltepe Open Penal Institution, prevented Kılıçaslan from firing a second time. Kahraman was taken to the hospital after the incident.
PROSECUTOR TAKEN INTO CUSTODY
Following the incident, an investigation was initiated at the courthouse, and the suspect prosecutor, who serves as a Public Prosecutor, was taken into custody for the crime of "attempted murder."
“OBSESSION” ALLEGATION
It was alleged that the attacker was obsessed with the judge and that they had previously worked together at the Anadolu Courthouse, which is why the female judge moved to the Regional Court of Appeals.
