LIFLESS BODY FOUND UNDER COLLAPSED CEILING
While partial collapses occurred in the house, fire and AFAD teams conducted a controlled search operation inside for the elderly man after cooling efforts. Mustafa Eken's lifeless body was found under the collapsed ceiling.
Kale Village Headman Şenol Yılmaz, who tried to intervene in the fire, said, "I was at home. The village imam called and said smoke was coming from the house. There is not even two minutes between my house and the burning building. I came quickly. His wife was at the door. The uncle we thought was inside was outside with his wife. She wanted to go inside, we looked together, but when the flames flared from above, I said we needed to escape and we went out. After that, the situation became one we could not intervene in."
Yılmaz, who stated that cleaning was done in the chimney before the fire, said, "When I arrived, the middle floor was standing, but about 10 minutes later it started to completely collapse. There was an explosion before I arrived, and another explosion occurred 10-15 minutes after I got there. It was hard to even stand in front of the door. It was very difficult for 80-year-old people to get out from inside," he expressed.
Meanwhile, it was learned that Mustafa Eken, who lost his life, and his wife Fevziye Eken did not have any children. Investigations regarding the fire are ongoing.
